Right after our time at LHS, I lived in West Orange and Parsippany working as a Hairstylist, which I enjoyed for many years.
About the time I turned 40 years old, I finally decided that after happily watching my brother and his wife, and my two closest friends get married and have babies, while I ran around dating all the wrong men and in the winter cold (LOL), it was time to move to Florida. That’s where I met my amazing husband, Jack. Come August 31st of this year, we will be happily married for 20 years. We have two adorable fur baby daughters – one year old Pebbles and twelve-year-old Truffles. Everything revolves around them!
We live in Boynton Beach next to a lake and on a golf course. It’s so nice and tropical. And it’s very enjoyable spending time watching the ducks and iguanas and thanks to many (bad) golfers, we collect all sorts of golf balls – our collection is about 1,000 balls and growing.
I continued hairstyling in Florida for a couple of years until I got tired of standing on my feet all day. It was then that I decided to get my Real Estate License which has grown into an amazing 20-year career, which I have loved while working in the Palm Beach County area. Oddly, after living in Florida for a while you don’t go to the beach all that much, which is funny because I remember in the summers back in Jersey, I had to get to the beach EVERY weekend.
My husband and I enjoy traveling as much as we can as we are realizing life is short and time is flying by so quickly. We love Las Vegas and go almost every year. Last year we went with LHS Classmates and our longtime friends Claudia Dubin Ryan and Judy Rabinowitz Kannel and their husbands. We all had a great time. It’s so nice we are still close even though we live miles apart.
My husband and I loved an amazing cruise to Venice, France and Rome which happened just two weeks before the war broke out in Israel. Our travels took us to the Dead Sea, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv. We are so glad we got to see everything before all hell broke loose. That was such a wonderful experience. Later on, we took a cruise all over Greece which was a beautiful trip. We rode camels in the mountains, which was scary, and we floated in the dead sea, which was weird. In September, we are going to Paris, Barcelona, Portugal, and Morocco. I better brush up on my Spanish – I think I failed that class by cutting school so much (LOL).
Recently, I reunited with our classmate Lynn Friedson Jones and her husband, which was really great. They, too, live in Florida. Although social media is not my strong suit, I pop onto Facebook on occasion – it’s so nice to see everyone with their growing families.
If you decide to move to Sunny Florida in the PBC area, feel free to reach out. I am happy to help. Kathykugel@gmail.com
Warm wishes and health and happiness to all!!
